The
bands first unofficial meeting was on the job. "I was music dirertor for
a show at Joe's Pub", Daugherty explains. "Tim and Aaron were on the
gig. We played "Democrazy" as a warmup and the crowd flipped. The
crowds have been flipping ever since. Aaron Comess started a little group called
the Spin Doctors in the 90's, and Tim Givens has worked with the Village Vanguard
Orchestra among others. Daugherty's day job isn't bad; as touring pianist with
the Martha Graham dance company specializing in Avant-garde classics and Scott
Joplin rags. The bands live shows send people into orbit around their strong
gravitational pull. Go to www.allaboutjazz.com
